Born an inlander in
Columbia SC, found a surfboard at age 8
yrs. old at Garden City Beach one
summer. Started surfing then and never
looked back. Started competing in the
early 80's, lived in the Garden City
beach area from 1981 - 1990, then moved
to Maui Hi. for seven years. It was a
15' plus day at Honolua Bay in Dec. 1996
when I almost drowned, the Lord opened
my eyes & heart to his mercy and grace.
It was that week I caught a Billy Graham
crusade on TV and BAM! I gave my life
over to Jesus Christ. It was then I knew
all surfers needed to have the good news
of Jesus Christ. After 10 years of
sharing, Christian Surfers US came into
my life and the Lord allowed me to
become the director of our local chapter
here in Charleston SC. I also have a
painting contractor business and a
beautiful wife( Laura) plus three awesome
children (Perry, Luna, Elijah). Mark 16
verse 15 "God tells us to go out into
all the world and share the gospel" I
can't think of a better mission in life
than to speak the truth of God's grace
to all the surfers along our coastlines. |

| Born and raised in Charleston. Fell
in love with surfing when I was 4 yrs
old. Started competing at age 12.
Managed to place 2nd in the East Coast
Surfing Championships and 7th in the US
Surfing Championships in the the boys
division. I love the outdoors whether it
be surfing, snowboarding, fishing, golf,
or whatever. I got married in May 2005
and I am currently in Dental School at
MUSC. I am excited about what God is
doing in my life right now and I look
forward to seeing how He will use Amy
and I in the Charleston Chapter of
Christian Surfers! Christ has given me a
purpose for living and He has shown me
the Truth that life cannot get any
better than when He is Lord of all of
it. |

I was born and raised in Charleston
and have lived on James Island forever.
I started surfing in high school and
have loved it ever since. I was raised
in a Christian home and gave my life to
Christ at the age of 15. I, like most of
us, have had faithful times and not so
good times but God’s grace and mercy is
sufficient and He has blessed me richly.
I am married to Beth, an amazing
Christian woman and have 4 children,
Chris, Mandy, Caleb, and Jamie. As a
doctor I see the tremendous physical,
emotional, and spiritual needs that
people in all walks of life have. More
than ever, I am convinced that life with
Christ is the only way to be healed in
these areas and have peace and joy, now
and forever. |

| I moved with my family to Charleston
in 2003 and have been blessed to be able
to surf year round after growing up in
the Midwest. God has always been in my
life but years of neglect at having
Christ as the focal point of my life was
brought to a head after five years of
infertility. After hearing a stirring
message about the angel Gabriel telling
Mary of her future child Christ, I asked
the lord for a messenger. The messenger
came and told us to adopt. We now have
three beautiful children from Paraguay
and Guatemala. The oldest is learning to
surf and named Gabriel! |

Kurtz Smith |
Originally from the suburban
Philadelphia, Pa. area and
grew up surfing on the beaches of
southern New Jersey. Kurtz and his
family moved to Charleston in 1987 and
his walk with our Lord really got into
high gear in 1996 when he started
attending St.Andrews Church in Mt.
Pleasant. In 1998 Kurtz opened a surf
shop called Charleston Watersport
located in Mt. Pleasant where the Lord
used his store for many ministry
opportunities. At the beginning of 2007
Kurtz sold Charleston Watersport and
went to work full time for the Lord when
he joined the ministry staff at St.
Andrews as the Men's Ministry Pastor. |
