Our Mission
Christian Surfers Charleston exists to be a Christian
presence and witness to the Charleston area surfing
community.
Our Aims
To present the good news of Jesus Christ in an
understandable form to the surfing sub-culture of
America. Missions and outreach is our primary focus.
To provide an alternative surfing environment to the
regular surfing scene with Christian role models.
To act as a servant to the local church by acting as a
‘bridge’ between the beach and Church; offering
specialized resources and volunteers; all while helping
Christians find a ministry ‘niche’ through the unique
ministry opportunities C.S. provides.
Our Core Values
EVANGELISM-We are evangelistic in intent, majoring on
Christ, the gospel, and the bible.
SURFERS-We are mobilizing surfers to reach other
surfers, with a culturally relevant message.
SURFING-We submit to Christ through servant-hood, rather
than serving the sport of surfing through selfish
ambition.
COMMUNITY-We integrate with our local community, while
creating a Christian community for outreach. We are
committed to loving one another.
CHURCH-We are locally based and accountable through many
Christian church denominations.
KINGDOM MINDED-We are transforming the wider surfing
culture by both individual conversions as well as
influencing our sub-culture.
PARTNERSHIPS-We are working with God and what he is
already doing through others, while respecting and
partnering with other ministries.
SERVANTHOOD-Our ministry is based on serving others
through relationships.
GRASSROOTS-We are part of a `bottom up movement’
empowering and developing the local ministry level.
VOLUNTEER BASED-We are mobilizing Christian volunteers
for outreach, while helping them fulfill their God given
calling and potential.
Our Shared Dream
To see that every surfer knows a `Christian Surfer’.
To include all surfers, regardless of equipment,
ability, sex, age, race or creed in our outreach
program. In our leadership we will also provide for men
and women and all types of riders. God is interested in
the surfer’s heart more than their surfing!
To provide a ministry niche for Christians who are
interested in surfing and mission.
To support the local church in coastal areas by
providing an integrated outreach they can use and a
model for like ministries.
To see us balance sound biblical principles with
contemporary application. We seek to be both an
authentic Christian mission as well as an authentic
surfing mission.
To persevere in ministry till we see a global expression
of God’s desire to reach all nations by networking and
developing similar ministries to all the surfing world.
We will provide opportunities for world mission.
